The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.
The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
